Thank-you for taking time out to check out our web site.
We are a new non-denominational church located on the far East side of Tucson, next to the beautiful Saguaro National Monument. We are simply Christians who believe the Bible and serve Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
Our goal is to provide a wonderful place to worship God, a community to build relationships, raise families, and come together for mutual support and encouragement.
Being non-denominational we accept people from all backgrounds and traditions, who are seeking to build a life based on biblical principles.
We welcome you to check us out on any Sunday morning at 10:30 AM.
Our new sign has been spruced up a little with some decorative bricks on the side columns. The work was done just before the July 4th weekend.
Each month after our pot luck dinner at Saguaro Buttes, the kids enjoy playing basketball while their parents are visiting.
One of the jobs on Sunday morning is giving people rides from the parking lot, up the hill to the church’s front door. Thomas is our golf cart driver and has been doing the driving for the last year. He is doing a great job, and if you ask him, I think he enjoys doing this “difficult” job.
The 2009 Pastor’s Retreat was a welcome break from our busy schedules. (Dave, Cindy and Tyler made the trip.) It was held on May 4-5, 2009 at UCYC in Prescott, AZ. It is a time of prayer, preaching, fellowship and learning (we also played golf). It is also a time to see the progress that the camp has been making over the last year with it’s facilities. They continue to improve the camp and add additional features to it. Last year (2008) the camp had close to 5,000 youth in camp from Arizona as well as neighboring states. Saguaro Buttes financially supports United Christian Youth Camp (UCYC) in Prescott and has done so for many years. It is a camp that we believe is very beneficial to those attending the camp, and it has one of the best programs for the children at a very reasonable cost. Brian Hallstrom is planning again to be a part of the Staff this year, and will be there throughout the Summer. He is currently attending Central Christian College in Missouri, working on a Youth Minister’s degree. The picture to the right shows one of the cabins at the camp, it is a beautiful place to visit.

Worship Services April 2009
What do people want when they come to church? I think it all depends. Some want programs for their children, some want a place to build relationships, others want great worship music. And there are those who want a beautiful place to worship that is preferably close to home.
I think people want a place that they can call home. A place where people know who you are, and care, and where you can get to know other people. It’s about relationships.
Small churches have one advantage over the large mega churches, and that is you get to know most of the people in the church. It becomes a family. An extended family, so that when you come to church, you know who you’re sitting by, and you are not sitting by strangers week after week. I am not knocking large churches, but I do like the feeling of a smaller church.
Dudley Spooner was baptized on Sunday, April 26th, after the morning services. Those who stayed for the baptismal service formed a prayer circle. The baptism was done outside on what turned out to be a beautiful day. We welcome Dudley as a new brother in Christ.

- Lunch with a View
At Saguaro Buttes we enjoy monthly fellowship meals (potlucks). We have been doing this for the last 4 years. Usually the church provides the main dish, (Tacos, Beef, Sub Sandwiches, etc.), and members bring a side dish or dessert. What a wonderful way to spend your Sunday morning. To come and spend some time in the presence of God and His glorious creation and enjoy the fellowship of other believers, (and the food is not to bad either). If you are looking get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and find a little peace and quiet then remember that it is usually the second Sunday of every month. A special thanks to Tim & Sandy Skjah who have been organizing and cooking for this wonderful event.

Why do we take communion every Sunday at Saguaro Buttes?
There are several reasons.
Jesus commanded it.
Matt. 26:26 ¶ “While they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”
Matt. 26:27 And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you;
Matt. 26:28 for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.”
Jesus set the example by taking communion himself.
Matt. 26:29 “But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”
The examples of the early disciples.
Acts 20:7 ¶ “On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread.”
Our Practice
At Saguaro Buttes communion is one of the main focuses of our weekly services. We offer it every Sunday as we believe this was the example set by the early disciples. We offer it to every person, regardless of your background, because we believe communion should be open to every person that believes in Jesus our Savior. Each Sunday we have a communion meditation before the emblems of grape juice and unleavened bread are offered. This meditation helps us focus on communion, and helps brings our minds back to the cross of Christ and his sacrifice that he made for each of us.
